Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
